CRUISE FIRST AID
The crew aboard Prow's Edge has summarized some of the comments of previous cruise visitors aboard Prow's Edge about cruise first aid and how to fend for yourself.
Just as little accidents happen frequently at home, so they do on a cruise ship, you don’t always want to be rushing off to the ship’s doctor, even if your daughter is single and you think he would make a perfect match.
Ship’s doctor’s services are also not the cheapest medical care you will find.
Our ship’s doctor here aboard Prow’s Edge suggests some of the basics in include in your own first aid kit that you might want to think of taking on your cruise with you. LINK TO JOE ships-doctor-medicine-chest.html
The most important items of course are your regular prescription medicines. It is a good idea to pack more than you will need, just in case the ship is delayed, or your flight home is cancelled and you have to stay away an extra couple of days.
Remember also to pack your regular collection of vitamins and minerals and other health supplements.
One rule followed by one passenger who shared her way of remembering two of the most important items to include in her first-aid kit was to make sure you have something to “make you go” if you become constipated, and something to “make you stop” should diarrhoea strike. It is a good idea to add an anti-nausea medication to the duo.
Other particular items should include:
general pain killers
antibacterial cream
waterproof bandages
ice bag
and a waterless antibacterial hand sanitizer
