C'mon People! It's not just that people like to talk about food - it's that they like to gripe about it. As I like a good gripe of my own, and am always on the side of the gripers ... I have to say that if you have paid for an all inclusive package vacation deal that is supposed to include your food - you have every right to gripe about it if it is not good. I don't actually take food gripes too seriously - yes you hear it all over the ship, but just watch the ones who complain the most - theirs are the plates that are piled the highest at the buffet table, and they are the ones ordering two entrees at a time. Griping about the food is just a pass time - we all do it - but then forget it until we're full again! Oy Yoy!

I don't like to talk about the food. I don't even like to gripe about it. Can't think of anything more boring than people yakking on and on about what they ate on what cruise ship and which cruise line gave them extra slivers of almonds on their icecream, and who made the best pancakes. Give me a break! Anyone thought of talking about the scenery???

The whole point of the food is to eat it? What's all this "talk" about?

I find myself in a strange place .... and I find myself looking around and saying to myself: “What are you doing here? You’re not a “griper.” Which I’m not. But I’ve been forced into this group of moaners to defend cruise ship cuisine. On most cruise lines, and when I say “most” I mean about 95%, the food is great. If it’s not, why does practically every passenger get of the ship having gained mountains of weight?

I’ve been surfing the various blogs and message boards and I’m still scratching my head. The complaints about food! Someone who had been on an Alaska cruise said the food was inedible (I won’t name the cruise line because we’ve been on that same line and the food was magnificent). Twice she noted that the “awful” food was “like eating wedding food”. What’s that all about?

I spotted one correspondent (who’d enjoyed a cutprice Alaska cruise for $45 a day) describe the food as ”better than a wedding banquet”. This is a new one on me.

What? Running down wedding food? I’ve been to some great weddings with great food ... like I’ve been on some great cruises with great food. Every ship I’ve ever been on provides a huge variety of dishes. You must find something you like.
