CANADA PORTS OF CALL – Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Historic Charlottetown Seaport - Prince Edward Island, Canada

Historic Charlottetown Seaport is a regular port-of-call for cruise ships on their Canada/New England itineraries.

Originating in Boston, New York and Southampton, Charlottetown-bound itineraries traditionally depart in September and October on 7- to 22-day voyages to catch the beauty of Prince Edward Island’s fall foliage season.

Along the Charlottetown Waterfront visitors can explore the beauty, the history, and the atmosphere of the quaint shops, restaurants, and cafés of Prince Edward Island’s capital, but many are anxious to visit the home of Anne of Green Gables in scenic Prince Edward Island National Park. The second most popular stop on the Island Anne tour is “Anne of Green Gables, The Musical”.

In 2008 PEI celebrates the 100th anniversary of the publication of Anne of Green Gables, and Anne enthusiasts will enjoy a year-long celebration of L.M. Montgomery’s imagination, inspiration and creativity.

Other Charlottetown attractions are Founders' Hall – Canada's Birthplace Pavilion, Confederation Landing, Peake's Wharf, Charlottetown Harbour tours, Beaconsfield Historic House and Victoria Park.

Most cruise passengers make time for a traditional lobster meal .... PEI’s famous Island Blue mussels dripping in butter, seafood chowder, fresh lobster in the shell, home-made rolls and pies.

PEI has been voted by several prestigious magazines as one of the world’s top golf destinations – its 25 golf courses are all within close proximity, all with very reasonable green fees.

Only 30 minutes from Victoria are the world-renowned Butchart Gardens, an enchanting 50 acres of groomed gardens on a 1904 country estate.

A cosmopolitan city with “small town” atmosphere, Victoria’s many hotels, spas and resorts provide a home away from home.
