Eureka, a historic Victorian seaport in Northern California in the heart of the Redwood Coast, home to the tallest trees in the world, is an emerging US travel destination for cruise passengers.A free shuttle service takes cruise passengers from the dock to Old Town Eureka, the lovingly restored Victorian shopping district with bookstores, restaurants, coffee houses, galleries, museums and a variety of unusual boutiques.
There are escorted tours of the world-famous redwood forests, a visit to a Native American village, a guided tour of historic Victorian architecture, and an arts & culture itinerary.
Along the awesome Avenue of the Giants, stop at the Humboldt Redwoods State Park visitor center near Weott. There you’ll see the incredible Travel-log, a 1915 mobile home crafted from a single redwood log.
Eureka is remarkable for the variety of wildlife to be spotted within its city limits. Bracketing the Bay at each end is an exceptional destination for birdwatching – the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary .
