It may be a small romantic island, but Galveston, Texas, is also a busy cruise port just 50 miles south of Houston with 32 miles of beaches, top resort hotels, and a busy downtown with many antique stores.

The Port of Galveston is the year-round homeport to two Carnival Cruise Line vessels which offer 4- and 5-day cruises to locations along the Mexican coast and 7-day cruises to ports in Mexico, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

Royal Caribbean International offers 7-day sailings year-round to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Key West. Princess Cruises offers Western Caribbean cruises .

The Victorian era is well preserved on the island, which boasts more than 550 designated historical landmarks on the National Register of Historic Places. Homes like the Bishop's Palace and Ashton Villa take visitors back to the time when Galveston was a booming financial and business center. Visitors can board the Galveston Island Trolley for an historic tour.






Another family favorite is Moody Gardens, a museum complex that houses a tropical rainforest, an aquarium and a space exploration exhibit inside three towering pyramids. Other museums: the Lone Star Flight Museum, the Galveston County Historical Museum, and the Mardi Gras Museum. The year-round Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark is the world’s first convertible waterpark.

The Port of Galveston is located on the upper Texas coast at the mouth of beautiful Galveston Bay, just 30 minutes from the open sea.

The port is a year-round homeport to two Carnival Cruise Line vessels. The Carnival Ecstasy sails from Galveston Island on 4- and 5-day cruises to locations along the Mexican coast. The Carnival Conquest offers 7-day cruises leaving every Sunday to ports in Mexico, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

From December 2009 through April 2010, Royal Caribbean International's Voyager of the Seas will sail from Galveston on 7-day cruises alternating to various ports in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Honduras, and Mexico.
