Ports of Call - USA - Alabama - Mobile

Mobile, the gateway to the USA’s Gulf Coast, is a beautiful, historic port city by Mobile Bay, now a homeport to Carnival Cruise Line with over 70 cruises departing from the downtown waterfront area every year.
Known as the city of six flags, Mobile has been enriched by her Spanish, French, African and Creole heritage. The past is on display at the National African-American Archives Museum and at the 1833 Greek Revival Oakleigh Period House Museum where President Garfield sipped his first mint julep on the front gallery. Mobile Bay's five historic house-museums are open to the public year-round.
Other attractions are Gulf Coast Exploreum Museum of Science & IMAX Theater, USS Alabama Battleship Park which features the mighty battleship that won nine battle stars in World War II, and Wildland Expeditions in the heart of the swamp and Mobile Bay estuary home to more than 250 species of birds and 230 species of fish and wildlife, including alligators, black bears, bald eagles, and osprey.
The barrier islands of Gulf Shores and Dauphin Island are dotted with historic forts.
Mobile Bay is also known as the Azalea City, thanks to Fifise Langlois who first brought the bright pink blossoms here from his father's garden in Toulouse, France in 1754.
Enjoy the southern hospitality of Mobile’s many hotels and motels.
