SHIP'S DOCTOR - Medicine Chest

MEDICINE CHEST

What would I take If I were to enjoy a cruise at sea? Well, my own black bag, of course!

Seriously though, do you have any conditions which you are currently under care for with medication? Along with your current medications I would take along a refill for back up. Not that you may need it, but the expense and availability of a similar prescription is something you'd need to think about.

This expense idea reminds me of the basics of my travelling black bag. Common treatments for the various medical maladies are expensive at best when at home. When I'm away I find it is always a premium. On a cruise ship your access to medical services is out of your own pocket. The items you may need are most likely available but best buys are at home....that brings another thought to mind: medical care aboard ship could be costly. Please ask about additional coverage!

From an anti-diarrheal, anti-inflammatory and your favorite laxative, do take your medications that you rely on at home. (Though maybe not your husband's three bags full....) You may need them, and in this case, it's more economical and more convenient to be prepared.

But you don't need me to tell you this! It's all common sense really!
