Cruise News - Fred Olsen Cruises - Caribbean

Silversea CruisesAugust 17 - 2010 : FRED. OLSEN CARIBBEAN CRUISES TO SHOWCASE THE DIVAS OF MOTOWN AND THE UPBEAT BEATLES ON THE BLACK WATCH

As part of its popular ‘Music and Laughter’ variety show programme on selected 2010 cruises, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is delighted to announce that The Divas of Motown and The Upbeat Beatles will be starring on board a Black Watch cruise to the Caribbean this autumn.

Fred Olsen Cruises - Black Watch

The cruise, W1020, is of 28 nights, departing from Southampton on 12th November 2010, and taking in the exotic destinations of Tenerife, Barbados, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, Tortola (where Black Watch anchors), Antigua, St. Maarten and the Azores, before returning to Southampton.

Passengers will be able to relive one of the most exciting periods in the history of pop music with the acclaimed Divas of Motown. Celebrating half a century of possibly the greatest soul and pop label of all time, these talented performers will recreate the sounds of The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Gladys Knight, Thelma Houston, and other Motown greats.

Providing the ideal accompaniment to the Divas is Steve Simone, soul singer and songwriter, who will be enlightening passengers on the story of soul, from its origins in the USA’s Deep South to the formation of Motown. Steve includes famous renditions of classic soul hits by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and The Four Tops.

Beatles fans will also get the opportunity to experience one of the most authentic tribute acts on the circuit, when the Upbeat Beatles take to the stage on this Caribbean cruise. All members of the band will be playing instruments without backing tracks, meaning passengers can get the full feel of the ‘sound that shook the world’.

An added attraction on this cruise is Fred. Olsen’s programme of special interests – The ArtsClub – which invites specialists in different fields to come on board and give talks and tuition in their specialist subject. This cruise continues the musical theme through a Musical Workshop, entitled ‘Harmonies and Harmonicas’. Bridge aficionados can also indulge their interest with interactive talks by the on-board bridge specialist.

This cruise has limited availability, and prices start from £2,099 per person, based on two adults sharing an inside twin cabin. The price includes all meals and entertainment on board, and port taxes.
